Launch of Biodiesel Fuel Supply

NX Shoji Co., Ltd. launched trial operations in 2024 using biodiesel fuel to power its own bunker supply vessel, "Aiko Maru", which supplies fuel to ships at sea.
The biodiesel fuel is an environmentally friendly alternative made from recycled cooking oil that would otherwise be discarded, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 20% compared to conventional fuel. Following the trial operations and evaluation, the company plans to develop a supply framework and begin selling biodiesel fuel for marine vessels to customers.

Expansion of Sea & Rail Modal Combination Transportation Service

Nippon Express Co., Ltd. provides the Sea & Rail multimodal transportation service, which combines ocean cargo and railway transportation. The company continuously expands new routes using this service.
Sea & Rail utilizes the company’s proprietary hybrid RSV containers, enabling seamless transportation without the need for cargo transshipment between maritime and rail modes. By combining low-emission transport modes, Sea & Rail significantly contributes to decarbonization efforts while also serving as an effective business continuity measure in the event of disasters.

Launch of NX-GREEN SAF Program

Nippon Express Europe GmbH signed an agreement in 2023 with Lufthansa Cargo AG to develop the NX-GREEN SAF Program. This program offers air cargo transportation using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), an advanced alternative to traditional fossil fuels. Customers who choose this program receive a third-party certified CO2 reduction certificate, allowing them to reduce their Scope 3 emissions regardless of the airline or route used.

Provision of CO2 Emissions Visualization Tool

NX Group provides CO2 emissions visualization tools for domestic transportation, including One-STOP Navi and Eco Trans Navi, as well as the NX-GREEN Calculator, which also covers international transportation. These tools calculate and visualize CO2 emissions based on customer-provided transportation data, helping businesses advance CO2 reduction efforts by making the value of low-carbon transport more transparent.

Initiatives to Improve Transportation and Delivery Efficiency Through NX Group Internal Collaboration

NX Cash Logistics Co., Ltd. and NX Wanbishi Archives Co., Ltd. have started combining shipments in certain areas as part of their transportation services. This collaboration reduces the number of transport vehicles, helps address issues arising from the 2024 Japanese transportation regulation changes, and improves the sustainability of NX Group high-security transport services for customers. Consolidated shipments also help lower Scope 1 emissions for the Group and Scope 3 emissions for customers.
