Launch of Same-Day Delivery via Bullet Trains

Nippon Express Co., Ltd. provides the NX Super Express Cargo service in collaboration with JR East Logistics Co., Ltd., a member of the East Japan Railway Company Group. This service uses shinkansen (Japanese bullet trains) for freight forwarding.

NX Super Express Cargo is a same-day delivery service that uses the Hakobyun Shinkansen freight transportation service operated by the JR East Group across the Hokkaido, Tohoku, Hokuriku, Joetsu, Yamagata, and Akita shinkansen lines. The service leverages the speed, punctuality, and reliability of shinkansen to provide end-to-end transportation of time-sensitive items, including fresh produce, medical equipment, and urgent maintenance parts, through the NX GROUP logistics network.

Growing public awareness of sustainability has heightened expectations for modal shifts that aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Railway transportation offers lower environmental impact than truck or air transport, even for urgent or same-day deliveries. Nippon Express leverages this transportation to support customer sustainability efforts and address logistics challenges, including the truck driver shortage related to the 2024 Issues.
