NX AgriGrow Co., Ltd.
NX AgriGrow Co., Ltd. operates a plant factory in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, producing and selling high-quality leafy greens, including cilantro, spinach, shungiku, and arugula.
The company uses a hydroponic plant installed in a greenhouse and adopts the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT), which significantly reduces water usage. This system reduces the water required to produce one kilogram of vegetables to less than one-tenth of that used in open-field cultivation, contributing to more efficient use of limited water resources. The greenhouse vegetables grow under abundant sunlight in Hokuto City, which has some of the longest annual sunshine hours in Japan, supporting healthy growth. The company also adopts environmentally conscious cultivation practices to minimize pesticide use, including the use of natural enemy insects for pest control. Through these efforts, NX AgriGrow strives to provide a stable supply of safe and secure vegetables to customers throughout the year. To address electricity consumption in hydroponic operations, NX AgriGrow installed solar panels at an adjacent site in January 2024 as part of company efforts to reduce environmental impact. These panels enable the greenhouse to generate approximately 20% of the electricity required, further supporting sustainable agriculture.
NX AgriGrow is committed to helping create a sustainable society by providing safe, high-quality food through innovative technology and environmentally friendly practices.
