NIPPON EXPRESS KOREA CO., LTD.
NIPPON EXPRESS KOREA CO., LTD. launched a new joint international transport BCP service with Nippon Express Co., Ltd. that keeps customer logistics operations running even in the event of a Nankai Trough earthquake. This service minimizes disaster risk and ensures a stable supply chain through a nationwide network of bases, an international transport scheme centered on Busan, Korea, and comprehensive insurance coverage.
The risk of a Nankai Trough earthquake has increased in recent years, and the concentration of major ports along Japan’s Pacific coast has raised significant concerns about logistics disruptions caused by earthquakes and tsunamis. In response to these concerns, NX GROUP built a framework that maintains flexible and prompt logistics during disasters by using the Group network of bases across Japan and overseas.
NIPPON EXPRESS KOREA will use their Busan Port Warehouse (BGLC warehouse), operated, as a hub to manage and sort bonded cargo inventory to and from locations across Japan. This transport framework ensures transport routes between Japan and countries worldwide and enables air transport from Busan via Incheon International Airport, allowing the service to meet diverse emergency needs.
In the past, each transportation and storage process required a separate cargo insurance policy. However, through collaboration with Sompo Japan Insurance Inc., NIPPON EXPRESS KOREA established a system that enables coverage of integrated transportation from Japan to Busan and onward to global destinations under a single comprehensive insurance policy. NX GROUP intends to leverage this new BCP service to build a sustainable international logistics system that is resilient to disaster risk and supports customer business continuity and overall supply chain resilience.
