Nippon Express Europe GmbH (hereinafter "NX Europe") is advancing sustainable logistics by building a strong road transport network and consolidating services to reduce environmental impact. Through collaboration with NX Group companies like cargo-partner as well as strategic local partnerships, we operate more than 60 road transport offices across Europe, offering comprehensive door-to-door coverage to all European destinations.
One of their key initiatives is the adoption of low-emission technologies for first- and last-mile transport. In partnership with subcontractors, our fleet now includes approximately 35 electric vans and small trucks in Italy, as well as two electric trucks in Austria. These vehicles help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality in urban areas.
In August 2025, NX Europe installed its first electric charging station for trucks at the cargo-partner office near the Vienna International Airport, Austria. The charging station is powered entirely by green hydroelectricity, ensuring that the energy used for charging is renewable. This milestone represents a significant step toward enabling long-distance electric truck operations in the region.
Biofuels also play a key role in our decarbonization efforts. In Austria, 70% of the local cartage truck fleet has transitioned to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a renewable fuel that can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel. This switch demonstrates our commitment to practical, scalable solutions for lowering emissions in heavy transport.
Looking ahead, NX Europe will building a more sustainable road transport system that supports our customers’ environmental goals while contributing to Europe’s transition toward a low-carbon future by combining innovative technology, renewable energy, and strong partnerships.
