Mizu no Yama Youth Idea Project Accepts Local High School Students for Farm Work Experience

NX AgriGrow Co., Ltd. operates a solar-powered hydroponic plant factory in Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The company continued its participation in the Mizu no Yama Youth Idea Project, welcoming 16 local high school students in October and November 2024 to tour the company and participate in hands-on work experience.

NX AgriGrow expanded the work experience to include more activities, building on the previous year. Students took part in sowing seeds, transplanting seedlings, and weighing and packaging harvested vegetables.

Comments from participating students included:

• "I used to think farm work was tough, but I learned that employees at the factory can work standing up, which reduces physical strain. I also thought it was great that the company provides job opportunities for people in their 60s and 70s."
• "I learned that vegetables grown using water from the Southern Alps are delicious and well received by consumers across Japan."
• "This experience taught me the benefits of greenhouse facilities, which can ensure stable shipments regardless of weather conditions."
