NX Cash Logistics, Inc. was established as a spin-off from Nippon Express Co., Ltd. in January 2023. The company aims to enhance the expertise of the cash logistics business, which has been in operation for more than 50 years. Through flexible and speedy decision making, the company will also create services that meet the needs of the times, and strengthen the competitiveness of the business. The company has approximately 8,000 employees, 3,000 vehicles, and 90 sites in Japan.

One management policy of NX Cash Logistics, Inc. is to create a triple win for customers, society, and the company by eliminating waste to the fullest extent and creating a rational, low-cost system with low social impact, contributing to cost savings for both customers and society. As part of their efforts, NX Cash Logistics, Inc. integrates transportation and delivery operations between head offices and branches of financial institutions. Here, they contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions by consolidating these operations into one vehicle, streamlining services that previously were operated by multiple vehicles in the same area.

On October 1, 2023, the Company also launched a cooperative framework with NX WANBISHI ARCHIVES CO., LTD. for transportation and delivery operations in the Chubu region. In this way, NX Cash Logistics, Inc. improves the transportation and delivery efficiency of NX GROUP and reduces CO2 emissions.

Social Contribution Activities Using Improvement Activity Support Points

NX NP Logistics Co., Ltd. works to develop on-site improvement activities throughout the company. The company refers to these activities as “Kobe-ization ” initiatives and established the Kobe-ization Promotion Office at their head office. The term is derived from the Kobe Sub-Branch, known for being the model location for improvement activities. NX NP Logistics Co., Ltd. implements various measures to encourage and stimulate the horizontal development of these activities.

One such example is the Kobe-ization Support Points launched in 2016.
Kobe-ization Support Points are points awarded according to the content and total number of improvement activities implemented by each site. Points can then be used to purchase equipment for further improvement activities.

In 2022, NX NP Logistics Co., Ltd. added a new way to use support points, as improvement activities had been established to a certain extent throughout the company. This decision enables sites to use points to purchase UNICEF Inspired Gifts that lead to social contribution, based on their approach to familiarize employees with the idea that their improvements can support others.

In fiscal 2022, 38 sites used points to purchase gifts for UNICEF, providing 32 sets of nutritional treatment meals totaling 4,800 meals. NX NP Logistics Co., Ltd. will continue this initiative in fiscal 2023, accepting applications from all company sites. (As of January 2023)

Effort to reduce CO2 emissions during air transport

"Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) stands out as a key solution for reducing carbon emissions in the transportation industry. In a significant move towards advancing SAF adoption, Nippon Express Europe GmbH acquired SAF from Lufthansa Cargo in June 2023, aiming to achieve a substantial emissions reduction of 3,150 tons.

Concurrently, NX GROUP introduced the NX-GREEN SAF program, allowing customers to mitigate CO2 emissions within their supply chains. Customers' financial contributions support the integration of SAF into the carrier's operational network, fostering a cleaner future for air transport. This collaborative approach enables carriers, logistics service providers, and shippers to collectively address the cost challenges associated with SAF deployment, a crucial hurdle in its widespread adoption.

Through the NX-GREEN SAF program, customers receive audited SAF certification, facilitating emissions reduction within their scope 3 emissions*. NX GROUP's global sales teams are equipped to assist customers in comprehending the advantages of SAF, fostering collaboration to meet expectations and provide comprehensive SAF information.

The collective efforts of airlines, logistics service providers, and shippers across the supply chain are pivotal in scaling SAF usage. This not only showcases Corporate Social Responsibility but also contributes significantly to a more sustainable future. NX GROUP established its Sustainability Policy and Vision in January 2023 and participates in various activities to support a better life for people around the world and the development of a sustainable society through its business.

NX GROUP also established NX GROUP Forest in Iide, Yamagata Prefecture and Nichinan, Tottori Prefecture. NX GROUP Forest plant’s trees in planned areas and clears underbrush in each town twice a year, cooperating and following the lead of the town office and forestry cooperative. NX GROUP companies around the world also work on such initiatives.

Furthermore, NX GROUP formulated its human rights policy and sustainable procurement policy in August and December of 2023, respectively.
