-- Seeks to resolve driver shortage issues and improve logistics efficiency --
NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, INC. (President: Satoshi Horikiri) has acquired a stake in CBcloud Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and CEO: Ryuichi Matsumoto; hereinafter "CBcloud"), which operates PickGo, a delivery platform boasting one of Japan's largest networks, as an investment for the NX Global Innovation Investment Limited Partnership and concluded a capital and business alliance agreement with that same company on October 31.

■Profile of CBcloud
Since its establishment in 2013, CBcloud has been developing technology-based services with the aim of building new social infrastructure to resolve issues in the logistics industry under the vision of "adding greater value to delivery". Its flagship service PickGo, the largest delivery platform in Japan with approximately 70,000 registered freelance delivery drivers, directly connects shippers and delivery partners (vehicles and drivers). With a suitable driver evaluation system and a 24/7 delivery response and support system, CBcloud is helping overcome labor shortages and other issues faced by the logistics industry through the services offered by its high-quality drivers.
■Investment background and objectives
With the logistics industry confronting a growing shortage of drivers, revisions made to the 2024 Act on the Advancement of Integration and the Streamlining of the Distribution Business and the Motor Truck Transportation Business Act as well as the enactment of new trucking legislation in 2025 necessitate a structural revamping of the industry.
The NX Group will strive to visualize and streamline logistics through its investment in CBcloud, which operates the PickGo delivery platform and which has introduced a driver evaluation system that directly associates drivers with individual shipments to ensure they receive legitimate evaluations and career development support. The Group will continue to address social issues in cooperation with CBcloud.
■Initiatives
1.Use of PickGo by the NX Group
In meeting transport requests from customers, the NX Group will promptly respond to requests for urgent delivery by utilizing the CBcloud network, one of Japan's largest in terms of the number of partners. As a partner itself, the Group will also accept delivery requests from PickGo customers, thereby helping establish an efficient operation system that improves cargo load factors, etc.
2.Development of electronic storage system for transaction documents
The NX Group will be developing an electronic storage system for report documents prepared upon the completion of tasks by linking PickGo with WAN-RECORD Plus, a digital solution provided by NX Wanbishi Archives. An electronic storage solution for the documents stipulated in Article 5 of the Act against Delay in Payment of Subcontract Proceeds, Etc., to Subcontractors will also be made available as an optional PickGo service not only to the NX Group but to the rest of the logistics industry as well.
3.System development based on PickGo
The development of a new system based on PickGo will facilitate the digitalization of transport operations within the NX Group, which will endeavor to improve the efficiency of its administrative operations as well by tying the new system into existing systems inside and outside the Group. Such efforts are intended to enhance the sophistication of the Group's operations to ensure compliance with its obligation to "make efforts" under the new trucking laws enacted this year.
The NX Group will continue leveraging its domestic and international networks to co-create with promising startup companies.
