The Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred on January 1, 2024 caused extensive destruction, leaving collapsed buildings and tsunami damage in its wake.
The government implemented "push aid" - the dispatch of relief supplies and other items without waiting for requests from affected municipalities - and arranged for food, shelter supplies, hygiene products, and clothing to be sent to afflicted areas. Nippon Express transported relief supplies in response to requests from the national government and various organizations, and handled cargo, managed goods and conducted transport operations at the wide-area goods transport hubs (primary hubs) established by the national government. In Wajima City, Nippon Express staff helped support affected areas by providing local transport hubs (secondary hubs) with operational advice and support as logistics experts.
During a recent exchange of views on food aid in times of disaster, Tsuyoshi Nozoe, Section Chief, Food Production Division, New Business and Food Industry Department, Minister's Secretariat, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, expressed the Ministry's gratitude: "Logistics professionals were very helpful in managing the establishment of transport hubs amidst the on-site chaos caused by the earthquake." Kenji Kato, Director and Managing Executive Officer at Nippon Express, noted: ""As a designated public agency in times of disaster, we have experience and knowledge of working together with government officials in past disasters, and we were able in this instance as well to make use of this experience and knowledge. Going forward, we will be consciously determining how best to leverage our experience and knowledge, and regularly incorporating new technologies for disaster prevention and mitigation."

The NX Group is well aware of its social and public mission as a designated public agency in times of disaster and will continue to actively communicate with local communities and engage in social contribution activities.
