Nippon Express Global SCM (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (Tatsuo Sugiyama, President), a local subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Mitsuru Saito, President), has begun construction on a new warehouse in Shanghai Qingpu Industrial Park.
Among the guests attending the cornerstone-laying ceremony for the Qingpu Phase II Warehouse held on Thursday, April 25 were Xu Nuo, Deputy Chair of the Shanghai Qingpu District Economic and Trade Commission, Cheng Xiaojun, Vice President, Shanghai Qingpu Industrial Park Development (Group) Co., Ltd., and representatives of partner companies; participants from Nippon Express included Satoshi Horikiri, Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer, and Tatsuo Sugiyama, Managing Executive Officer and Regional General Manager, East Asia Region.
Situated in the western part of Shanghai, Qingpu Industrial Park was opened in 1995 as an industrial park receiving key municipal-level industrial support, and its convenient location within 50 minutes of central Shanghai has attracted electronics, biotech, and hi-tech companies.
The industrial park is located adjacent to a highway linking Shanghai with cities across Jiangsu Province, which is now developing into a major production area, and growing attention on this strategic logistics location is driving warehouse demand higher.

Nippon Express Global SCM (Shanghai) decided on the construction of this new warehouse, which is to be located adjacent to, and on the same lot as, an existing warehouse, in order to meet a full range of customers' logistics needs, including domestic sales logistics for the local area, manufacturing logistics (just-in-time delivery), and storage/distribution utilizing air-conditioned facilities.
Nippon Express will be continuing to bolster its logistics functions as it endeavors to totally satisfy the needs of its customers and thereby further expand its global logistics business.
