Nippon Express (South Asia & Oceania) offers sponsored lectures at Laotian universities

Nippon Express (South Asia & Oceania) Pte. Ltd. (Shinjiro Takezoe, Managing Director; hereinafter, "NSAO"), a local subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Mitsuru Saito, President), offered lectures sponsored by the ASEAN Economic Ministers and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Consultations - Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee (AMEICC) Secretariat and the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) on November 26 of last year at Champasak University in Laos and on January 26 of this year at the National University of Laos.

The AMEICC Secretariat and AOTS regularly team up with Japanese companies in projects that offer sponsored university lectures, develop human resources to help companies acquire infrastructure business, and cultivate industrial workforces via Japanese companies operating in ASEAN countries, all with the aim of improving the skills of personnel in the ASEAN region. The recent sponsored lecture was part of these efforts.

Serving as the instructor for the lecture was Hiroshi Hanaoka, Director of NSAO's Mekong Development Center, whose presentation on "Our Business Strategy for the Mekong Region" briefed the audience on economic growth forecasts and the current state of logistics in the Mekong region and gave them an overview of Nippon Express' business endeavors in the region and the issues it faces. The students in attendance all listened very enthusiastically.

Nippon Express last July opened branches in Laos' capital Vientiane and in Savannakhet Province that currently offer consulting on logistics services. With the ASEAN region and Southeast Asia as a whole projected to enjoy further growth, Nippon Express will be endeavoring to both expand its business and take active part in social contribution activities there.
