Nippon Express holds symposium to promote use of China-Europe railways

Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Mitsuru Saito, President), held a "Symposium to Promote the Use of China-Europe Railways" jointly with Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) on Tuesday, March 12 at the WTC Conference Center in Minato-ku, Tokyo.

Numerous companies were represented at the venue, with nearly 150 company representatives and officials from the host organizations attending the event.

The Symposium was held as part of the FY2018 "Business Feasibility Study Project for Overseas Development of High-quality Infrastructure (Study on Improving Hard and Soft Infrastructure to Promote Utilization of the China Land Bridge)" being carried out by Nippon Express at the request of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Previous symposiums have been held in China and Europe, and the Tokyo symposium doubled as an opportunity for offering a report on Project activities.

Nippon Express presented the attendees with a report on the practical features of China-Europe rail transport, gave an overview of the Project itself, and briefed participants on the status of transport along 14 routes scheduled for trial use.

At an earlier symposium held in Dusseldorf, Germany on Wednesday, February 20, approximately 100 attendees heard a report from Nippon Express on the status of cross-border rail transport in Europe, and on the operation of a block train from Xian during a trial run conducted on Thursday, December 20 of last year.
