NEX Logistics Indonesia opens Semarang Logistics Center

PT. NEX Logistics Indonesia (Tetsuji Yonaiyama, President), a local subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Mitsuru Saito, President), has opened its Semarang Logistics Center in Semarang, the provincial capital of Central Java, and will begin business operations there on Thursday, February 1.

Semarang is a commercial city located on the northern coast of Central Java, and the relative ease of securing labor resources there in comparison to the national capital Jakarta or Indonesia's second-largest city Surabaya has attracted many global companies, including more than 20 Japanese firms, to set up operations in Semarang.

The Port of Tanjung Emas is located in the north of the city, which itself sits on a major highway running from Jakarta in the west to Surabaya in the east. The convenience of this location has also garnered attention, and in the future many more companies are expected to expand into the city. There is expanding demand for logistics regarding retail.

Nippon Express will continue strengthening its logistics functions in South Asia, a region forecast to see further growth, and endeavor to further expand its global logistics business.
