Nippon Express to begin doing business in Laos from July 2

Expands into its ninth ASEAN country

Nippon Express (South Asia & Oceania) Pte. Ltd.,(Shinjiro Takezoe, Managing Director), a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Mitsuru Saito, President), has established two new branches in the Lao People's Democratic Republic, one in the capital city Vientiane and another in Savannakhet Province, and both branches will open for business on Monday, July 2, 2018.

Laos has enjoyed rapid economic growth in recent years, attaining a high 7% annual growth rate, and alongside Cambodia and Myanmar, it has been garnering growing attention as a hub for "Thailand-plus-one" manufacturing/processing.

Located at the heart of the GMS(*1), Laos has also become the focus of attention as a strategic area for logistics operations connecting Thailand, Vietnam and China, and expectations are that logistics demand in the country will continue to rise.

Nippon Express is committed to bolstering its logistics functions in Southeast Asia, a region expected to see still more growth, as it seeks to further expand its global logistics business.
