Nippon Express' East Asia Region concludes logistics collaboration agreement with SIPG Logistics Co., Ltd.

The East Asia Region (Tatsuo Sugiyama, Managing Executive Officer) of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Mitsuru Saito, President) concluded a business collaboration agreement on Monday, January 22 with SIPG Logistics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, "SIPGL"), part of the Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, "SIPG"), China's largest port operating company.

SIPGL, SIPG's core logistics company, has approximately 400,000m2 of warehouse space in Shanghai, and utilizes the resources of SIPG, whose ranks include a shipping company, to provide high-level transport services combining port and maritime transport services.

China's logistics business environment has changed considerably as the One Belt, One Road Initiative has prompted greater rail transport and as booming domestic demand has driven the growth of e-commerce. The two companies will be seeking through this tie-up to promote mutual development in a wide range of areas, including forwarding operations, e-commerce, warehousing, intermodal transport product development, a switchover to round-trip container use to reduce CO2 emissions, and exchanges allowing their personnel to participate in training programs and seminars offered by both companies.

Nippon Express will be bolstering its logistics functions in the East Asia Region through this business collaboration, and endeavoring to further expand its global logistics business in line with its Corporate Strategy.
