Nippon Express do Brasil begins airport/port customs clearance services in Rio de Janeiro

Nippon Express do Brasil Ltda. (Koji Hosoya, President; hereinafter, "NE Brazil"), a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Kenji Watanabe, President), has begun its own customs clearance operations in Rio de Janeiro, supplementing its existing operations in Sao Paolo.

Delays in customs clearance in Brazil stemming from complex customs clearance regulations, frequent revisions to relevant laws, and recurrent strikes by customs officials have become a major obstacle in the logistics strategies of many customers.

NE Brazil has decided to assign customs clearance staff to its Rio de Janeiro Branch to handle import/export customs clearance operations at Rio de Janeiro's airport and port and to deal with customs officials during inspections. This will enable NE Brazil to address the problems arising during the customs clearance process that had troubled customers, and to provide accurate and timely information on the customs clearance status of cargo. The automated distribution of online monitoring sheets showing customs clearance status will now be extended to cargo going through customs clearance in Rio de Janeiro, making it possible to "visualize" customs clearance information previously unavailable in real time.

NE Brazil will continue enhancing its services to meet customers' diversifying logistics needs and support their supply chains.
