Nippon Express upgrades consolidated air cargo services to Mexico

Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (president: Kenji Watanabe) has added to its lineup of "Mexican Eagle Liner" consolidated air cargo services for shipments from Japan to four cities in Mexico by enhancing those services targeting the especially sizable transport needs of Guadalajara and launching a new "Mexican Eagle Liner (Premium)" service at the end of September.

Differences from standard services

  1. High-quality transport
Nippon Express is the only Japanese forwarder using its own facilities and operational resources to carry out the build-up process for ULDs*1 to be loaded aboard transfer flights.
→This upgraded service offers Japan-quality transport, including detailed checks of exterior packing and reliable cargo tracing
  2. Same-day transfer from transit point
The build-up of ULDs for transfer flights to Guadalajara usually carried out by the airline at the transit point (Los Angeles) is done at Nippon Express facilities using in-house resources.
→This allows the cutoff time for bringing cargo to the airline to be extended, while ensuring that cargo can be loaded aboard an onward flight on the same day as the Japan-Los Angeles flight.
  3. High-speed operations after arrival at Guadalajara Airport
As the ULDs being forwarded contain only Nippon Express cargo, this cargo receives prioritized import customs clearance upon arrival at Guadalajara Airport
→If requested by the customer, deliveries can be made as early as the date of arrival (the day after export) to major cities on the Mexican Plateau (Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, Silao) where numerous automobile manufacturers are located.

Background to development

Mexico is presently a focus of attention among auto makers from Japan and elsewhere around the world, but the set-up of local operations by Tier 2 and Tier 3 companies, that is, secondary and tertiary parts manufacturers, has not kept pace with the forays made by well-capitalized finished vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 primary subcontractors, leading to an increase in exports from Japan.

Nippon Express has thus enhanced its services in response to the needs of manufacturers and others requiring urgent transport to Mexico.
