Nippon Express (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Hiroshi Enokida, President), a subsidiary of Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (Kenji Watanabe, President), completed construction of its Laemchabang Heavy Equipment Logistics Center (LHELC) in the central Thai province of Chonburi on December 17.
(Laemchabang Heavy Equipment Logistics Center)
Thailand has been seeing a significant influx of automobile companies, with numerous steel manufacturers also setting up operations there to serve these companies. Thailand's automobile industry is expected to see still further growth, and this will likely drive higher demand for storage of steel and other heavy materials, for transport of these materials to manufacturing plants, and for other logistics operations.
There are many industrial parks in the vicinity of the recently completed LHELC, and the area also features one of Thailand's largest agglomerations of manufacturing firms. Taking advantage of its favorable location 5km from Laemchabang Port and easy access to industrial zones, the LHELC will offer a full range of logistics services, from the storage of imported materials to the transport of finished products.
The LHELC's heavy goods warehouse has been equipped with a 30-ton crane and a 20-ton crane to help in storing steel coils and other steel materials.
Nippon Express (Thailand) has approximately 30 heavy haulage vehicles, and this new facility will be used as a hub for these vehicles, allowing them to function integrally with the storage facility to improve operational efficiency.
